I thought the self-parking feature applies only to parallel parking and not backing into a parking space. Maybe that's why it stopped or couldn't compute any longer. The people here were trying to back into a spot while the computer thought it was parallel parking then noticed the wrong intention and stopped. It's only a marketing gimmick but for the people who can afford it, it's a conversation piece. Backup cameras and backup sensors are widely used in Japan (from econo-boxes to JDM Luxury sedans driven by the Yakuza).

no you can perpendicularly park it they had it on the news this mourning and they did both

either way i still think its an awesome feature. Too bad you have to buy a 70,000 dollar car in order to get it. Too bad the IS didnt have this option as well.. :)

Regardless of how well the auto parking (doesn't) work, it's a great looking car.
