PrecisionMuffler.com axle-back exhaust

Hello fellow Scioners! This is my first post on the forums, but I've had my xD since September.

I am looking to start with some basic mods for my xD, exhaust being one of them potentially. I've seen posts here about the TRD exhaust, and a YouTube video about a Borla exhaust, which I've not been able to find any more info on. However, I came across the PrecisionMuffler.com site which has a recently release axle-back exhaust for our cars.

I mostly wanted to post here to make you all aware of this exhaust, but I am also curious if anyone has used this muffler? I don't expect gains, just wanting a nice low sound to enjoy while cruising around. Thanks!

That exhaust is on an xB in the video and there seem to be no pictures of it actually on the xD. Our car doesn't really have a nice hole like that to mask the exhaust should it hang down more than you'd like.

I know Tanabe has one that is in the making and they too have sound clips on their website, though it is a bit hard to find which is actually for our type of exhaust.

This is the first I've heard of Precision Muffler offering this. Not too sure how well made they are.

Ahh, good call! I just figured it was some really low hanging body kit making that nice hole. I thought I saw a video on YouTube of this one that actually looked like the back of an xD, but maybe that was the "Borla" one...

There is a thread here that shows a blue xD with the Tanabe one on it. I think it hangs a bit too low for my tastes. If I got a new exhaust and with my drop I would worry about some of the dips in the streets or driveways around me.

Could always go with TRD :P

Cool. I'll check that out. I definitely will consider the TRD, if I can get luck and find it on ebay for $250 is or something crazy like that ;)

Hey, Hey, Hey, check this out! That video is actually of an xD, the Team Koshak/PrecisionMuffler.com Piercey Toyota White xD (see CafeXD thread: http://cafexd.com/viewtopic.php?t=615) to be exact. I like the front lip molded into the OEM bumper, but the rear looks way too much like the xB for my tastes. The wheels are kinda cool, they would look nice on my blue xD I think.

Anyway, my point is that this exhaust apparently is for reals!

Oooh ok that makes more sense now. There is actually a thread here about that body kit minus the mention of the exhaust lol.

Wasn't doubting that it couldn't be on an xD, was doubting how it would look. Even that kit is around the tip so you can't see how far it hangs because most of us don't have kits lol.

You are very right! The guys behind the work for the xD on the PrecisionMuffler.com product was working on including a heavy duty rear hanger so it could support the heavier muffler, so one would hope that would make it not hang low on a stock rear end. Who knows though. Hmmm, maybe I'll have to be a guinea pig...or just look around more to try to find others with that exhaust :D

our clubs build for Scion will be using the PrecisionMuffler.com exhaust. they run a solid company and dont be afraid to use them.

precision muffler has been making killer products for the scion since i got in the game in 04.

If you didnt want something that hung low like that, you could always get a performance muffler welded up, and then have a tail pipe with a tip welded on. it would look alot cleaner than having a big can hanging down.

feel obligated to post for fellow xders. Had been visiting site for awhile but never signed on. I have the precisionmufler exhaust. it has a nice thraoty tone but poor fitment. The flange on the pipe that hooks up to original exhaust is poorly fitting, the muffler tip it self was rubbing against the stock bumper and took of paint. I had to make modification to the brackets and buy extra rubber hanger to make fit ok but still need to play with muffler constantly to keep from hitting bumper. The muffler it self dose not hang any lower than trd. I wish I went with trd instead.

That really sucks. Anybody else have the same experience with the precisionmuffler exhaust? I was planning on getting it.. looks like the only option now is TRD :eyebrow:

cut cutta, have you looked at the Tanabe one? It hangs a bit too low for my tastes but it might be slightly better than the TRD for sound or styling. No idea how either one really sounds in real life though.

Yeah, thanks for the tip. However that exhaust is not out yet. Not until may. Plus it's MSRP is more than that of the TRD. Might just have to buy the TRD with the car, if the dealership will throw in installation for free (and let me keep the old part).

I also got the Prec. muffler cat back. It was made well, but did not fit very well. It sat too high and hit the bumper cover. The bend in the pipe was also too high, and rattled against undercarriage (even after bending heat shields out of the way.) I took it too a muffler shop and they made a new hanger to lower it about an inch to get rid of the clunking rattle. It sounds ok now, but is hanging down too much and doesn't look good from the rear.

If they could take an .75 inch off the height of the pipe bend, and drop the rear outlet about 1/2 inch, it should be fine.
