I'm going to be putting a massive stereo install in my `08 xb.
it consists of 4 Fi BTL 18's, 4 Memphis Mojo 4kW's, and each sub in a 5 cubic ft box. yes, i'm removing the back seat.
the total weight is going to be around 1000 lbs. so i'm going to need to upgrade the suspension. what method would offer the smoothest ride, and best handling with that amount of extra weight. |

Steering gear, axles, differential, transmission, brakes, cooling system, etc., etc., etc. were not meant for this kind of added weight on a full-time basis. It's not just a matter of changing shocks and springs.
Sounds like a rockin' stereo system, just not for an xB. |

sup man, saw you at the dragon meet.
the recomended max cargo for the xb is around 800 pounds including passengers.
sounds like a bangin system but, i agree with most of what CIONIDE said, you would have to do a trans cooler, better breaks, larger raidiator, ect, ect, ect |

well, it wouldn't be a daily driver, but i would like it drive-ABLE
i didn't even THINK of my poor tranny! that thing can't possibly be expected to start, shift, or stop the car with that much weight... the brakes i'd already inquired about.
either way... with only 800lbs rated cargo... that doesn't leave much option for me... i'm @ weight right now as is... flip... i'm not wanting to put $5,000 in tranny upgrades as well... i'll just have to mull this over...

also..... that could be the reason the guy is selling his car, mybe he is seeing the effects of the extra poundage, HAHAHAHA..... double meaning for ya
everything on the car is built to handle the max cargo.
so lets say around 800 pounds including pasengers.
now throw a 1000 pound system + 2 pasengers ( average person ) 180 pounds each, now the breaks are having to stop en extra 500 to 600 pounds and they will not stop the car as fast or as stable as they should (warped rotors, glazed pads). same goes for the trans and engine coolent system. the trans will run hotter (hot + trans is very bad) thats why a trans cooler is avaiable

IMHO i wouldnt worry about brakes. almost 11" front and rear are bigger than my old liberty and it was stopping almost 4500 lbs before trailer. anyway upgrade tranny (cooler) and use some stiffer springs and dont drive it like you stole it. lol

| I'm gonna go bags... i think i can get away with driving it without doing anything to the tranny though... i drive it less than 500 miles a month |
