I am putting on 16x7 on my car with the oem tires. I have TRD springs and want to know if an offset of +42 will be ok before I order. I am going to purchase them today so I need to know pretty quickly.

Thanks.

edit:

lmfao i replied to the wrong thread

it's just too high of an offset, and if you're mounting stock tires on it.... i dunno man, i just think if you're gonna go the same dia as stock they'd better be wide as Fk with tires to match..

No big deal. So you are saying that the wheel will be to skinny to support the oem tire? This whole offset thing is really boggling my mind. I have googled it and looked at the diagrams. It looks to me like it just means where the lugs are placed with respect to the dead center of the wheel. it has nothing to do with how wide the wheel its self is. So if i buy a wheel that is the same size as a stock wheel then the tire should fit. From the sounds of it the +42 offset just means that i really dont have a lip on the wheel, which is true. From what I can find others have estimated that the offset of the oem is +38. Here is the wheel.

Thanks for your help. I know that ICW makes a black wheel with an offset of +38 called the Talon. i am just wondering if I dont need to try and catch the shop I purchased them at and get them to switch the order Monday morning.

no, the wheel is wider than stock, so you'll be stretching the OEM tire.. it'll look very bad IMO.. save up and buy some 17X8's..

How is it wider than stock if the wheel is listed at 16x7? I thought if anything it would be a problem because the hubs are so far foreward that the wheel would have to be pushed so far back that it might rub. The shop that i purchased them at is a very reputable spot here in kc. they do many of the chiefs and Royals, Cardinals cars and we spent about an hour looking for wheels that are either gunmetal or all black without a polished lip. They called the distributor with my car and oem tire size and they said no problem. Again, Im just trying to understand offset. I thought the offset only moved the hub car side and wheel side but the size of the wheel is fixed at 16x7.

You'll be just fine with the 16x7 and 42 offset.
The TRD wheels that Scion pushes are 18x7.5 with 42 offset.
My wheels are 18x8 with 45 offset and df210 springs, which has a much lower stance than TRD. I have no rubbing issues with that setup.
The only difference the 42 offset vs the stock 38 will mean for you is the face of the wheel will be slightly closer to the outside of the fenders. That's a very small change though.

THanks, I checked with the shop today and they showed me the conversion chart and it amounted to about .25 of an inch towards the fender walls. Not enough to get real freaked out about.

g'luck dude, i just hope you didn't pay a ton for them.. a lower offset (+30) would have filled out the fenders nicely.. different strokes though i suppose.
