Go with 4300k HID's. I have the 8000K's and I should've went with a lower k.

At most, get 5,000K for HIDs and you will never be bothered. Its more light than 8,000K and has a bit more color than 4,300K.

Only if you drive at night.

Seriously though, police in the NorCal bay area have been cracking down on import modded cars for a while, and that just gives them a reason to hassle you. I don't think they're as hard on tinted tails, but those 8000k HIDs are pretty darn blue (as well as not providing as much light output). I would tend to play a little safer and go with 6000k. The stock european HIDs that have the blue tint are in the 5000k range, so you'd still be more blue than them.

i'd advise NOT to get 8000k as you will not be able to see anything when it RAINS (light will reflect too much not really offering any VISIBLE light). if you want that euro-looking flare... please go to HIDplanet.com and lookup cut-off shield mods... that's the twinkle you see in the high end performance/luxury cars... it has nothing to do with the COLOR of the bulb you are using... but the actual refraction of light via the cutoff shielf of an HID system (i.e. prism... or rainbow)...

you can do this mod to the stock cutoff shields on the xB halogen projectors... it just takes a bit of trial and error... i've modified the stock cutoff shields to not blind people and have a cleaner cutoff... just my .02$.

Retrofit, FTW!!! I need to save up some $$$ for the projectors and everything I need. I want to go 50watt...

haha dude i know!! i have an extra set of OE lights... rx330 projectors... e30 clear lens... and enough roof flashing to do 1 million cutoff shields... i just haven't had the time to dedicate to the retrofit... but i'll definitely post when i get done LOL hopefully before summer ends.

You shouldn't have much of a problem. I think what theyre more concerned with is the cut off. and since the xb2 has stock projector lenses your not really gonna blind anyone. I have 50w 8000k's in my car. I've had no problems. And i gotta say. it doesnt matter if its rainy. I can see everything still. Heck it doesnt even matter if its daylight. I can still see my lights haha
