so i was looking into supercharger a lil down the road but i had a few questions
i know with the supercharger i will need to get tuned for the air/fuel ratio
but i was wondering if you have toyota install it will they just reflash the stock ecu?
and if u don't have toyota do it can other places reflash the stock ecu? (i read earlier no other place can besides toyota) so was curious
or do i have to get a piggy back system for the supercharger? |

1) yes you need it tuned. running a poor tune will destroy gas mileage and wear your engine
2) yes. there is a special machine that they plug into your OBDII port and it will reflash the ECU with the proper specs.
3) you can install it yourself and i do believe that you can limp it to a dealer to have it reflashed. otherwise i know that places with access to the toyota database has access to that reflash file but that may not mean that they have the means to reflash the ECU properly
4) no need as long as you use the TRD supercharger with the TRD supercharger reflash. if you feel that your local tuner can extract a better fuel map from the supercharger you can probably get them to do the tuning |
