Painting emblems with Duplicolor metalcast smoke

Ok, Im ordering duplicolor metalcast smoke to paint the emblems and i am removing the xd badge for good. I can not find this paint anywhere. From what i can tell no one else can either. WHat I want to know is has anyone used metalcast before? If so did you use the regular adhesion promoter or did you use the Metalcast ground coat? My car is the magnetic gray and I think it will look really nice on that color. Here is an example of the outcome from this paint job. Duplicolor suggests the ground coat but the lexus guy used the regular promoter and no sand. I dont know what to do. Are the lexus emblems metal or plastic becasue if they are metal that might make a difference.
