The subject says it all. The tire pressure light was on, needless to say.

I assume that I should keep the PSI down to the suggested 35 PSI. I just took the PSI down to 40 tonight and the tire pressure light started blinking instead of staying on... I guess I'll let out another 5 PSI tomorrow.

What is everyone's experience with the stock 16" tires?

I would keep the tires inflated to what it says on the driver's side door panel sticker (make sure to check the inflation while the tires are cold -- i.e. have not been driven for at least 3 hours).

I imagine some helper-monkey at the dealer probably just overinflated your tires by mistake. When I took mine home it had the light come on too (underinflated on one side)

I found that my 18" make the light come on when they're a few PSI over or under the recommended amount. I'm sure it's the same with the 16" tires.

Thanks for the tip. I just thought it was odd that they were at 50PSI and wanted to make sure 35PSI was best for the 16" tires.

I had 60 PSI in one tire on tuesday. I can't explain how it happened. I've had the car for two months, everything has been fine. Then I get the warning, bring it into the shop I work at, and they ask me "wtf did you put 60 PSI in your tire for?" I didn't even touch it. I don't get it. I also notice other things in my car that I didn't do. Sometimes the vents are all closed on the dash, one day my back seat headrest was up, and the next day it was down and the other headrest was up. I don't know...xD ghosts?

The tire pressure sensor has to be "initiated". To do this (not sure on the xD, but I had this happen on my 4Runner), it has to be inflated to 50-60 PSI and then the air can be let out. That activates the sensor and the light will go away.

The light SOLID means you have to check the pressure.

The light BLINKING means you have to get it checked @ the dealer. It's either not initialized yet (I picked my 4Runner up before they completed all the system checks), or something is really off in the system.

they come off the truck overinflated just in case the car sits for a while. there will be flat spots if they sat for a while and not overinflated, which will cause a vibration.
