 Wassup Scioners!! I just got rid of my bass system and upgrading, but some of my peers think I should move on from MTX and get JLs...what you guys/gals think, MTX or JLs??? :eyebrow:
This is what I'm looking at:
2 x MTX T8510-04s 500rms 1000pk 4-ohm
1 x MTX Thunder Elite TE1501D 3000w Class D-Mono
500w x 1 @ 4 ohms
1000w x 1 @ 2ohms
1500w x 1 @ 1ohm
--OR--
2 x JL Audio 10w6v2 400rms 800pk 4-ohm
1 x Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000-1bd 1000w Class-bd Mono
250w x 1 @ 4-ohms
500w x 2 @ 2-ohms
1000w x 2 @ 1-ohm --or--
1 x Phoenix Gold RSd1200.1 1200w Class D-Mono

From what I've heard, from other bassheads, is that JL is the way to go!
I don't have any cause they're kinda pricey... |

I prefer the JL over the MTX.
The JL is a cleaner woofer than the MTX. If you want accuracy and sound quality, then the JL is probably a better choice for you. If you are just looking for louder production, then the MTX may give you a little more edge over the JL and a little more BOOM for your buck. Both will be very loud with the appropriate amount of wattage, but the MTX has a little bit higher linear excursion, which amounts to a little more beef on the lower end of the frequency spectrum. This may mean a tiny bit more SPL at the lower frequencies, but it also has a tendency to cause quick frequency transitions to be a bit "muddy" in comparison. Because of this, the JL will have a more accurate sound reproduction.
The JL also does not require as large an enclosure as the MTX. Both the sealed and vented recommendations are a considerable percentage smaller for the JL versus the MTX.
Keep in mind, BOTH the MTX and JL are dual-4 ohm woofers, not single-4 ohm woofers! If you intend to run two, you need to keep in mind that your final impedance, if wired parallel-parallel, will be 1 ohm.
Both woofers are certainly capable of handling in excess of 500W RMS provided that you are careful with your gain control. |

| go with JL. i have 1 JL 10w6v2 in a molded fiberglass box i made (see photo in profile)and it hits rerally hard. also you need to use 1 amp for the 2 subs (even though youll be happy with one and one will be enough) because youll never be able to fully dial 2 amps in exactly the same. use 1 high power amp to run them both |

| If those are the only 2 brands you are considering than for sure go JL; you will not be disappointed. |
