|
|
| Ok I've been at it for almost two hours now. I have every bolt off except for one of the spring loaded bolts. Issue is that it's loose but it's just spinning and wont come all the way out. I've tried putting upward pressure on the bolt and then trying to remove it but no go. I have enough room to get a hacksaw blade in there but that's a last resort. Can anyone give me some advice on this please??? |

I don't have an impact wrench and it wouldn't help anyway. The bolt is just spinning in place. It's caught up in the threaded portion of the header. I think i'm going to cut out the bolt hole on the header and free it that way... with my dremel. Not like i'm going to reuse the stock piece. |

Wierd, mine fell right out once they were loosened. It was getting them loose that was the problem. Are you sure it's hung up and you don't just need to turn it some more? Those threads are very long, it seemed to take forever to back them all the way off.
Oh, if you ever need a stock header if you do decide to cut let me know, I have three. |

Yah it's hung up, I can see and feel the bolt just staying in place while I turn it. Must have stripped some threads in the process of removing it. The other one came out just fine. I'll finish it up this afternoon. |

| Well the dremel isn't working. Not enough room to really get a good angle. I'm trying to saw the bolt off with a hacksaw blade now. |

| Making slow progress. I bought a diamond cut off wheel and a flexi-shaft accessory for my dremel and i'm hacking away at the mounting flange. I really regret starting this project at this point. |

| I DID IT! I GOT THE DAMN THING OFF!!!! I ended up cutting the spring portion away to get more clearance and I hacksawed the bolt in half. I blew up my new dremel in the process but i'm taking it back for a refund. :D |

| Eh second problem... it's leaking where the header attaches to the exhaust pipe. I'll have to take it in to a shop to see if they can tighten those spring bolts better than I can. I don't have much room for leverage when the car is on the ramps I have. :( |

The pipe that connects to the donut gasket has to have some pressure on it. That is why there is a spring on the original bolts.
You can actually head over to you local hardware store and get some other bolts that are long with some washers and nuts to fit. Just reuse the oem springs to keep the pressure on the flange to the donut. Something like this.
The springs keep pressure on the flange to the donut when the motor moves during any movement. |
