No, it's not a typo.
I talked to Gude today, I will have all my parts back by the end of next week, so I don't have dyno results yet. But this is what I did find out today.
First, they will offer several cam designs depending on your needs. From autocross to turbo or whatever you want. They also have a pretty extreme profile, shich I am getting done, that requires new double valve springs. They had to custom order mine and that was the hold up.
Complete packages will range from $1250-1650, depending on whether your profile needs the new springs or not. But this is about $1000 less than a supercharger, and should provide sufficient gains. Those I will post when I get my car back up and running and get a chance to get back to the dyno. Say about 2 weeks. I will also post up pictures of thier work before I reinstall everything.
BUT, they are starting a race "club" for anyone to join. For a small fee, I am not allowed to give out details because they are still working on it but should be under $100, you will get free stuff like shirts, hats, stickers, etc. Discounts on work including full engine builds, they are doing a complete Scion build now. And news and invites to events and races. Plus whatever else they come up with before the official announcement. |

| So it's possible to add, say 20hp, with just a cam swap? Is it safe power or will other mods be necessary? |

The Cams are regrinds of the factory ones. Not sure how they do it, but they can add lift and duration to them. Not sure they will get 20 hp alone, but with the complete package, I don't see why whp wouldn't be comparable to a supercharger or a 35 shot.
LIke I said, each set will be done per the customers needs.
Price of $1265 includes, port match, extrude hone and port and polished head. Cam regrind. TB bored and port matched, and intake manifold port matched(they say they can do the plastic). They will also portmatch and polish both supercharger manifold halves(the one that bolts to the head and the neck the TB attaches to) for a little extra. The $1600 range covers all that plus new high performance valve springs installed. |

Great, I was just mentioning in a thread about exhaust how back pressure and valve over lap can decrease economy and in some cases performance too unless the cam was changed to match it. I assumed because of the vvt a different grind other than increasing lift would not do any good. Glad to see I was wrong.
Wonder what they can do for low end or economy? |

Ok, they ran into a small delay, and didn't get my stuff out. But got the call today saying they were shipping it today. So hopefully by next weekend, I'll have some dyno numbers.
SPeaking of numbers, Bill doesnt use a flow bench, says it's not accurate enough. He uses a Sonic Rail thingy mabob and doesnt' want to give out #s on it because of trade secrets.
But he did give me specs on my cams. They are 420 lift and 244 duration on intake and 400 lift with 238 duration on exhaust. Hense the need for new valve springs. |
