A buddy of mine just closed his shop down in Victoria, Tx and moved to Houston. When he closed the shop he had a 2GR V6 from an avalon sittin around. My orginal plan was to buy a wrecked/shell MR-S and put it in there, but with no luck finding one i was thinking of possibly doing the swap into a wrecked/shell xb2/tc. For the swap in the MR2 you only have to change one motor mount, tranny bolts up to stock tranny.
My question's:
how much of a pain in the butt will it be to get in there?
whats the model# on the auto/manual 2AZ tranny?
things i dont have:
computer
harness
stock Avalon tranny
car to put the motor in.
any help or suggestions will be appreciated. |

yea i know
what i need to know is what would need to change, and im thinking it will be a trial and error and install, b/c i dont think its ever been tried, my main reason for this thread is to find out if anyone has done the research/tried the swap before in a xb2/tc |

I haven't seen it done and I doubt it has been done.
I think it would be much more economical to just turbo your car rather than a full on motor swap. Granted a motor swap has the "WOW" factor of being done, but you'll never know what will happen in the fabrication process.
I've worked in a shop before, and I've done a motor swap (LS1 into a Caprice). The swap went flawlessly, but the customers weren't ever really happy when their bill would come up.
It's kind of one of those things where you have to ask yourself, "Is it worth it?" |

| If I'm not mistaken isn't that the same engine as the v6 camry which also shares our 2az in other models? If so I'd imagine it should bolt in rather easily, but I've never seen it done. The only concern Id have is the bay in the xb2 is kinda cramped. |
