Homiez I have an 06 with 37k on it, I had my throw out bearing replaced at >10k, it seems im hearing a cricket noise coming from the transmission, when I press in the clutch, sound goes away. TOB?
And now it seems that My clutch has a different feel to it? I may be just assuming I have a problem and just noticing things that have always been there? Know what I mean?
My clutch is not slipping it just feels like it used to engage earlier? any info is much appreciated in advance!
I want to take it to the dealer but the noise comes and goes, I tried to go today but I know that if there is nothing they can hear there just going to tell me that everything is ok. Not sure if this is covered under the Drive train warranty.
thanks!
One love homiez |

| Sounds like the TOB is messing everything up. |

| How long do you think I could drive with these symptoms? Is this something covered under my Drive Train warranty? |

| ^^^Yes, it's covered under the powertrain warranty. If you need a clutch disc, that might not be covered...you know, wear and tear item. Make an appointment ASAP...good luck. |

The noise when in neutral and gone when you press the clutch pedal sounds like its similar to my problem. Thats something in the transmission itself. The weak feeling clutch is another problem. Do you drive agressively with your xB? When you do does your 2nd gear or 3rd gear grind? What year was your xB made?
Regarding the weak clutch:
I upgraded my clutch last year and I noticed a few things. The oem clutch disk used bushings not springs, that makes the clutch feel very soft when you engage (let go of) the clutch. The pressure plate is also weak, when I removed the trans. I was able to move the clutch disk around while the pressure plate was still on, meaning the pressure plate didn't have that much clamp force. The disc had a ot of meat left on it, it was just the weak pressure plate and the tired bushings in the disc that made the clutch seem like it was slipping. So I found out the rumors were true, Toyota OEM clutches suck! I upgraded to a Spec Stage 2 with Tom's flywheel. It feels way better now, decent bite with good wear characteristics, very streetable and track ready. If any of you guys need any more info, tips etc. PM me. |

| i don't know if any of my posts regarding this topic are still around but i had major problems begining with TOB and ending with complete rebuild of tranny at under 25k miles because dealer kept saying they could not find anything wrong. it all started with the "cricket" sound around 5k miles after having competition clutch (TRD) installed at 1,500k. it is a big problem with this family. keep on them (dealer) to fix it now. |
