|
|
| hi, i was wondering if anyone has done a custom brake upgrade on their tc, meaning they've used bigger brakes from another car. i was thinking about going with a NA mkiv supra system but the calipers on those are butt ugly. do i have any other options? maybe a tacoma? i'd like to keep it toyota. thanks. |

| the celica GT-S big brake kits work because the tc has the same brake components from the celica gt-s. |

Unless you are running road courses and severly overheating the brakes, you wont really see a difference in braking though. The stock brakes already will get deep into ABS easilly, and at that point, no more braking force will do any good.
However, I have a feeling you already know that based upon your previous posts on here. So I am sure you have your reasons.
I dont know if you will find any larger oem brakes that will work, but as mentioned the celica bbk's should fit. I am just not sure how large those are and what calipers they use. |

thanks for the input. i was looking to upgrade because i will be getting 19's soon and wanted to fill the wheels better and at the same time get stronger brakes but i never thought about the abs issue. i really don't like how the stock brakes feel but i think i'll put some SS lines on the car along with hawk pads.
where could i get goodrich lines cheap? |

| not really sure, i know for sure i don't want to spend thousands on a BBK because i don't need it. that is why i was going this route. |

| well either way its gonna be pricey.... i.e. the brembos from the 04 sti (only car thats 5x100 that has a bbk standard that i know of) can be found used for around 1500 but you'll need to fabricate brackets and such. either way you're better off going with the stop tech stage 2 all around |

| thats the thing, i don't want to go with a real BBK, thats why i was looking into other cars that have bigger brakes then retroing them to the tc. |

| well this is a bit veered off topic but you could get some cool looking rotors, some better pads, and you could paint your calipers and save like....1200 dollars???? sounds like a steal to me. but do what you want lol. |

| i repainted my supra brakes and i don't think they look ricey. as for the tc, it has ugly calipers anyway so painting them wouldn't help. and for getting different rotors, i don't need different rotors, i just wanted something bigger. |

It normally may not look ricey... but even describing it like that makes it sound like rice. "Why buy the BBK? Just do all of these things to make it look like you have a BBK and save the $$!" THAT mentality will get you an Uncle Ben's sponsorship.
"Don't bother with a CF hood, just paint it black. Why spend the $ on it?"
"Why buy a turbo kit? Just get the whistler to sound like a turbo and save some $!" |
