| Has any one else considerd designing an xD for the use of off road and dirt trail abuse? I have driven my stock hight and suspension D on some pretty technical dirt trails and it handles remarkably well. ( short wheel base, good ground clearance? ) a lack of all wheel drive is obvioulsy a set back, but i think it could be overcome at least partially with a turbo and perhaps a tein gravel spec suspension. Any thoughts? |

| As much as I'd love to see it, I can't see it doing well. |

It has strong potential as you stated, with the tall height and short wheelbase. Nice light weight also. Hell I've seen SRT4s do a decent job offroad. My only concern would be how well the electric steering would handle all the debris and dirt.
I'm sticking to time attack though :P |

| keep us posted! what kind of mods are you going to be doing that might be different from ours for your rally set up as opposed to a grip/auto-x set up? |

| coilovers designed to handle offroad rather then stiff stuff for auto x. TIRES higher gear ratios for faster accel. parts to prevent dirt/debris from getting into engine bay etc, roll cage is mandatory. Good bucket seats, steering wheel. Safety is basically double duty compared to auto x etc with the higher chances of flipping. |

It would actually be a lower ratio...
an lsd at least or maybe a locker would almost be necessity for FWD car. |

| zefoxe just about nailed my wish list to get it going, the only thing missing is a light turbo, to keep up with the demands of an enigine running at higher altitudes... our car has some breathiung problems starting around 7k above sea level. |

| Yea a nice baby turbo for torque would be great, and if you could tune the VVTi to take over for high rpms better you'd be rocking. if you dont mind becoming not street legal, u could go full 3'' piping for the exhaust :D |
