Ehh...
I don't care what they say about testing, no way is that safe. I've heard stories of reps from Gemballa and BBS say themselves that full carbon fiber wheels are not safe.
Quote: Carbon or even Kevlar fiber as a building material for wheels may sound like the next innovation in wheel design, but they are in no way shape or form suited for the high stress environment of road and track use
In order to even get a inertial balance on these wheels the pattern would have to be perfectly even all the way around. Yeah, carbon fiber wheels do seem like the next thing, but from a engineering perspective, it's too scary for me. |

| These would be for a trailer queen. Though I'm sure someone will be dumb enough to run them on a track... once. |

meh.... too much hasle of trying to keep your rims from getting jacked... besides, i would like to know how sturdy these are... and also, lighter rims does not always equal to better...

as for the link that DrI provided, remember, those are for bikes, they weigh nearly next to nothing compared to cars. |

A full CF rim would be incredably strong.......we use CF to build the Horizontal LIft flaps on 767 and 777 airplanes......the stress is super incredable on these parts to lift a plane off the ground........
A 1.4" thick piece of real CF is stronger than 1/4" of Titanium
Problem is how they are designed,CF is not really meant to be used in the fashion they chose. Those rims are probably made using a frame of some type and then layered in many wraps of CF.
See they used a dry CF application and dry CF is not as strong as impregnated format. |
