|
|
So I was driving home from work today and while I was driving the front lip for my 5axis kit fell off and got ran over by my car and like three other cars behind me.
Does anyone know if 5axis has a warranty for their cheap butt tape loseing its stickyness? I installed it with the screws too, but as soon as the lip hit the ground it just ripped the screws out of the car.
I love the kit and would hate to hassle the 5axis folks but this kit was installed for less than a week when it happened. So there has to be a defect somewhere.
Any help would be appriciated. |

sounds like you installed it wrong.
doubt they'll warranty that. i'm guessing you didn't put the screws in the side? |

Nope the screws are in there and you can see where it was ripped off the front bumper.
I called the shop that installed it and they are being complete dicks about it. So I am going to try calling someone at TRDSparks and see if they have any suggestions.
Hopefully things will work out :nails: |

yea.. has to be installer error.
the tape provided, i can only assume was 3M double sided mounting tape with strength to be able to hold 5lbs per sq. inch. (not cheap stuff.. fyi)
installer error would involve not cleaning the area properly.. thus instead of car to lip kit having that adhesive force....
you got dirt super stuck to the tape.. instead of the car. |

Well, talked to Ken at TRDSparks, and he told me to go back to the shop again. If they are still being dicks and nothing can be resolved with them, hes going to send me another lip at the cost they paid for it.
You have got to love TRDSparks, I dont think you could find better costumer service anywhere.
This time its going to the stealership to get put on. |

We've had ours on for over a year with no problems.
If they applied it.....pulled it off to realign it......it will come loose. You can only stick it once. Otherwise you have to replace the tape.
Some apoxie (sp?) wouldn't hurt either. We used some on the rear bumper. |

| When using the tape i heard its best to use some rubbing alcohol on the area where your going to apply it for best results. Right? |

x2. Their excuse will probably be the car sholdnt ride that low and it cant be on their hands if your ride is barely touching teh ground. If not you shouldve watched where you were driving. In no way I'm blaming you. its just better to be prepared for their questions. Either way they should give you some price brake if not a new lip. 5 axis is a pretty big co I'm sure they can do something. |
