You guys might wanna check in to this for older year models as well as aftermarket intakes.
I have an 05 tC with 90k on that biscuit already and recently my CEL came on consistently for the past month and a half. At first i thought it had to do with my intake fitment, though the CEL did stayed off for quite awhile intill 2 week later it threw another CEL. For the past weeks or so I checked vacuum tubings for leaks and reset the battery a few times to see if the CEL was that "serious" (note: i had another CEL way before and it was a vacuum leak or gas cap not tighten, but solved.) and of course, the CEL came within 7hours everytime. I took it to Autozone for a free CEL diagnosis and it said the car was running LEAN so either had a defected O2 sensor (employees thinks so), fuel injector, misfire, or MAF sensor.
But the actual problem was the MAF sensor, it was quite dirty which threw off the A/F ratio. Bought a can of MAF sensor cleaner sprayed stuff all over and in, NO MORE CEL!!! For those who got intakes you also need to buy a can of MAF sensor cleaner and clean your MAF sensor everytime you change your air filter or CEL throws out for that sort of problem.. Also cleaning your MAF sensor help maintain gas mileage too. The MAF sensor is sensitive inside so the MAF Sensor cleaner is formulated for sensitive parts and other detergents will DAMAGE your sensor.. |

There's a known TSB on this and an O2 sensor...
I replaced both of mine from Dealer.. problem solved.
My code was P0171 and I only had 33k miles when it happened. |
