I did a chop on xb2 with 17" Lexus wheels.
Should I do it for real or not.

Not bad, if you don't want any lip at all. Also, what is the offset on those? Most Lexus wheels are in the +50 range.
Here's the TSW Estoril that is very similar, and available in 17"-20" sizes:

The offset on these are 45mm
I think without lip, the wheels will look bigger....
I am just not so sure about the size....
Is 17" really too small for our xb2??? |

Offset is good to go.
Visually, the wheel will look bigger with the spokes extending all the way to the rim.
Size is a personal matter; there are plenty of people that love 17's on the xB:
