So here's what happened - I bought a bunch of stakes from Home Depot for a project I have going in the backyard, and it was sitting on some other product in the back of the car (seats folded down). On my way home, I had this Buick swerve into my lane on the freeway to avoid hitting another car, which made me slam on my brakes. While doing so, the stakes flew forward and scratched the silver plastic trim pieces on the inside of my car. These are the long pieces that are on the side of the center vents and go all the way down on both sides down the stereo and to the cigarette lighter (left side goes around the hazard button).
It's chipped just a bit where there are about 10 black areas pretty noticeable, and I don't know how to fix them. I tried looking for a CF trim kit, but they don't cover the areas I need to get fixed. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do? I'd prefer not to buy replacements from the dealer and I've had no luck with junkyards. |

I don't do paint. It would look worse than it does now.
But I might check out the guy in PDX and see, thanks for the referral. |

If you can apply tape and hold a spray can, you can do it. I used Duplicolor Wheel Paint, and the total extent of my prepwork was to wipe the areas to be painted down with mineral spirits. No sanding, no clearcoating, none of that. I wanted an OEM finish, and got that for about $6.
(I had similar scratches from carrying long material as well) |
