Though it was billed as a concept, the new LF-Sh from Toyota's upscale sales arm will become the new Lexus LS 460 sedan sometime in 2006. It will replace the current LS 430 flagship. The handsome new sedan sports a V8 engine mated to a hybrid motor system to produce "an acceleration feeling of a different dimension," as a press release describes it. The hybrid powertrain is also compatible with all-wheel drive, Toyota officials said. In concept form, the LF-Sh sits at 199.2 inches long, with a 116.9-inch wheelbase -- which makes it about 2 inches and 1 inch longer than the existing LS 430. A seven-speed transmission is in the works for the gas-engined version of the new LS, as is a lane-departure warning system.
